Infertility is defined as a diminished ability or an inability to conceive after one year of unprotected sex in women under 35 or the inability to carry a pregnancy to term. It is thought to affect one in six UK couples but the age of the woman is important given that fertility declines, especially after the age of 40.
We recommend the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) and the British Fertility Society (BFS) for the most up-to-date and detailed information.
