Researchers at the University of Exeter are inviting women in perimenopause or postmenopause to take part in a new anonymous survey exploring wellbeing, symptoms, and coping strategies during the menopausal transition, including (for those who have tried them) the use of psychedelic substances.

For some women menopause can bring wide-ranging changes to mood, sleep, memory, and general wellbeing. This study, run by MSc Psychedelic Studies students under Professor Celia Morgan, aims to better understand these experiences and whether some women are using psychedelics informally to help manage symptoms. Women are welcome to take part whether or not they have ever used psychedelics.

Who can take part: Women aged 18+ who are currently experiencing or have recently completed the menopausal transition. The survey is available in English, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

What’s involved: A fully anonymous online survey taking around 10–25 minutes (shorter if you haven’t used psychedelics), covering menopausal symptoms, cognitive function, sleep, mood, stress, wellbeing, and optional questions on psychedelic use. No identifying details are collected, and responses cannot be withdrawn once submitted, as they can’t be traced back to you.

The study has University of Exeter ethics approval. Some questions touch on sensitive personal experiences, but you can stop at any time before submitting, and support resources are provided at the end.
