Congratulations to Debra Holloway on her well deserved award as a Member of the Order of the British Empire. This was announced in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours List, published on 14 June 2024.   The award was made for her services to Women’s Health.

Until her recent retirement, Debby was a highly respected Nurse Consultant in Gynaecology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She is a longstanding member of the British Menopause Society (BMS) and has contributed to the work of the society in many ways:

  • Debby was one of the first to become a BMS recognised menopause specialist when the online register was introduced in 2016.
  • She was also one of the first to register as a BMS menopause trainer for the education programme Principles and Practice of Menopause Care (PPMC) launched in 2020.
  • She has contributed to a number of BMS annual scientific conferences, as a speaker, a facilitator of menopause café breakout sessions and has submitted poster abstracts.

Debby was one of two nurse representatives on the NICE Menopause: diagnosis and management guideline development group.

She was also the first gynaecology nurse to be awarded an honorary fellowship by the RCOG.

Together with her many friends and colleagues, we send our warmest good wishes to Debby and her family.
