In light of Covid19 and the need to reduce patients attending healthcare services, the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) has advised that the use of the Mirena IUS can be extended up to 6 years for contraception. If in addition to its use for contraception, the Mirena IUS is being used for the progestogen part of HRT, additional progestogen should be added in daily, until the Mirena can be changed. An example of the latter being micronised progesterone (Utrogestan) in a dose of 100 mg orally taken on daily basis.
